The folks who work at George's Meat Market are comfortable with what most people in contemporary society are not: They look death in the face every day. This may seem bizarre, but it is a simple part of everyday life that most of us take for granted each time we eat a meal. Although we often avoid thinking about our meat's origin, no one is uneasy with this reality at George's Meat Market.

Chickens wait for the inevitable while a butcher sharpens a knife nearby.
Workers deal with the dead animals every day -- they handle them and sometimes joke about it.
